RAC 2016 - 2017

Miss Croxton

Hello and welcome back from myself and Miss Roberts. We hope you had a relaxing half term.

This half term we will be focusing on spring and new life. We will be learning all about farm animals, plants and where we get our food from to help give us a deeper understanding of the world and also to help us with our health and social care needs. This also links to our EYFS fair visit; if you haven't already done so; please return the consent for, with the £6 balance or come and speak to a member of staff. We will be planting some vegetables and plants for us to observe and look after.

We will pushing forward with our Read Write Inc sessions which are now more tailored to move the children forward, as always, please refer to the Ruth MIskin website on how to help develop your childs reading and writing, (feel free to pop in and see me for more guidance or understanding which meets your childs needs). I can not stress the importance of reading at home with your child and ensuring their books are brought back to school on the relevant days.

In Maths we will be continuing our counting and ordering of numbers from 1-20. With some branching beyond 20. Please encourage your child to count one to one objects, counting out a number of objects from a large group and help your child as much as possible with number recognition. We will also be learning how to match the correct numeral to an amount of objects and to use the language involved with money and coin recognition. Finally we will be learning how to add and subtract practically. At home you could encourage your child to add two groups of groceries together or different household objects. Anything practical to continue their learning outside of school, simple as guessing how many steps it takes to get to the kitchen then counting together!

in Literacy we are trying to become independent readers and writers so as mentioned above please listen to your child read their book and red and green high frequency words. Encourage them to write in their news books over the weekend ready to share on a Monday in class whether it be you writing a sentence for them to copy or them to try independently and you to give an explanation.

Could I please remind you that we now have P.E twice a week so full kits of pumps, t shirts and shorts need to be in school please and will be kept until the end of this half term. It is a vital part of our curriculum and needs to be done in full kit.

We hope your child has another fun and successful half term. As always, my door is always open for you to come and talk before or after school.

Miss Croxton.
