Should you require any further information on any other aspect of our class, please do not hesitate to ask.

Welcome back! We hope that you have had a wonderful break and are ready for some fantastic learning! As many of you will already know I (Mrs Burns) have taken over from Ms Woodray and look forward to meeting you during this term.

Come and See

We will be covering the topic of 'Listening and Sharing', the children will be able to ask and respond to questions about their own and others' experiences and feelings about listening well and sharing. They will also begin to understand that some of these questions are difficult to answer.

This half term, we will continue reading the Michael Murpogo novel, 'This Morning I met a Whale'. We will be continuing to develop our reading skills of inference and deduction as well as our writing skills. In writing, we will be further developing our skills of paragraphing and writing different types of sentences in order to create interest for our reader.

This half term, we are revisiting multiplication and division. It is really important that your child is regularly practicing their basic maths skills such as number bonds and multiplication tables.

In Science, we will be studying 'States of Matter'. We will be looking at solids, liquids and gases. This will involve some exciting investigations which will link in with our Volcanoes and Earthquakes topic in Geography.

We will be answering the question, 'Can the Earth shake, rattle and role?' We will be studying earthquakes and volcanoes. We will be finding out what causes them and where in the world they are likely to occur.

This half term will see a particular focus on E-Safety, with children learning how to keep themselves and others safe on the Internet.

Our PE day is Wednesday - a full school PE kit is required for this.

Just a reminder that if your child has pierced ears, earring should be removed on a Wednesday (unless very small studs are available), for health and safety reasons. Thank you.

This half term, we will be returning to our cycle of homework three nights per week,

ALL children will receive spellings on a Monday, these are to be completed and returned by Friday.

Wednesday will see mathematics homework - either linked to work in class or a particular basic skill. This must be returned on a Thursday.

Friday will be English homework - usually linked to a particular aspect of grammar or punctuation - this ought to be returned on Monday.

Many thanks for your support in this.

Should you wish to speak to any member of our staff regarding your child, please see the office to make an appointment - we are usually available at the end of each day to answer any questions.
