Welcome to Year 4 at Holy Family with Mrs Snell, Miss McGhee and Mrs Leek.

We hope that during the year you will enjoy finding out about all the wonderful things we will be learning in our lessons. To keep up to date with what is happening inside our classroom follow us on twitter @HolyFamilyL8_34 and @HolyFamilyL8_DH

Come and See

English

In English, we are reading the classic novel 'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe'. Our talk for writiing will look at the features of a portal story - an adventure into another world; the icy kingdom of Narnia, followed by looking at a character with a flaw; Edmund with his love of turkish delight!

Maths

In maths this half term, our new learning focuses on fractions, including decimal form. In order to do this we will refer to our division and multiplication skills. It is important to practise your times tables every day as by the end of Year 4 we need to know all our times tables up to 12x12 and they will definately help during this unit.

Science / Topic

Our topic this half term is materials. We will investigate the properies of solids, liquids and gases. We will continue to learn how living things adapt to their habitats, specifically in polar regions. In order to do this we will need to identify where in the world the Arctic and Antarctica are, alongside their geographical features.
