Celebrations

Lent

We look forward to Lent. On Ash Wednesday, we will gather together to receive ashes. During Lent, we will fundraise for Nugent Care. At the start of our Lent/Easter Come and See topic, we will be inviting parents and carers to Explore with us, joining in with a range of learning activities.

World Book Day

On Thursday 2nd March, we will celebrate World Book Day. We can’t wait to find our reading superpower and share our love of reading.

Mission Days/ Feast Day

We started our Spring term with a whole school focus on our Mission Statement and Values. Each year group focused on a school value, reflecting upon what it means and creating artwork to represent it. At some point, each year group took part in an Act of Charity, putting our faith into action to help others. Early Years and Year 1 thanked people who help them. Year 1 and Year 2 spruced up the planters and allotment in our school. Year 3 and 4 visited Mersey Parks Dementia Care Home, reading to the elderly. Year 5 visited Faith4 Change’s Roots in the City garden, helping with planting onions and garlic for Micah food bank. We also took time for a celebration of the Feast Day of the Holy Family. This is celebrated on the 30th December. We remembered the pivotal role that the Holy Family plays in our faith and the role models that they can be to our family lives. At the end of the two days, we joined together for a whole school celebration of our values.

Attendance

Each half term, the class with the highest attendance wins a… pizza party! In Autumn 1, this was Year 3. In Autumn 2, this was 6D. Could it be you in Spring 1?

Christmas

We had a fantastic time celebrating Christmas together! Nursery and Reception sang Christmas songs on 16th December, Year 1 and 2 performed a Nativity on 13th December, Year 3 and 4 had a Christmas Carol Celebration on 15th December and Year 5 and 6 had a Christmas Celebration on 14th December. These are all on our school website to view. We had a whole school Christmas Craft morning where lots of our parents and carers came to join in with a whole range of craft activities.

Sacrament of Reconciliation

Our Year 4 children made their first Sacrament of Reconciliation on 12th December. They have been working hard on the With You Always preparation resources. We look forwards to them making the First Holy Communion this year.

Advent

We made an Advent wreath, which was blessed by Father Silviu at our Advent gathering in school. Year 5 and 6 attended the Archdiocese of Liverpool’s Advent Schools’ Service at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King on 7th December 2022. They sang some songs that they have rehearsed with Danny Townley and Joe Watson. The theme for the service is God is with us – everywhere. At the beginning of our Advent/ Christmas Come and See topic, during Explore, we invited parents and carers to celebrate in their child’s learning in a range of activities. Lots of our parents and carers came and we all had a joyful celebration.

Remembrance Day

On 11th November 2022, we gathered for a whole school Collective Worship and marked 2 minutes of silence to remember fallen soldiers. In Early Years, we created poppies in playdough, paint and cake.

Ofsted Celebrations – GOOD

We are thrilled that during a recent inspection in June 2022 we were graded as GOOD in all areas. Our staff and children work hard to make our school a great place to be. We held a whole school Collective Worship, a poster competition to show off our GOOD school and parties in our classes. We were all in a very GOOD mood!

Spanish Day

On 12th October 2022, our school celebrated Spanish Day. Everybody dressed in red and yellow like the Spanish flag or in a way that resembled a Spanish person. We had a visit from a Flamenco dancer and had a special lunch menu, sampling the best of the Spanish cuisine. Each class also had some learning about the culture of Spain.

Death of Queen Elizabeth II

We gathered together in a whole school Collective Worship to reflect on the life of Queen Elizabeth II and how her life demonstrated the values we believe are important. We were saddened that this came so soon after the joyous occasion of her Platinum Jubilee, where we celebrated with parties, food, decorated crowns and wearing red, white and blue.
