Family Support and Parental Engagement

My name is Miss Scott and I am the Child, Family and Community Mentor (CFC Mentor) here at Holy Family. I help support our families in a variety of ways. Including parental courses, children’s interventions and helping with support services.

Parent Courses: Throughout the year, we offer a range of course for our parents / carers. Including a basic Maths course, Introduction to Mental Health First Aid (based on the Five Ways to Wellbeing), fitness, Interpreting in the Community, ESOL Stepping Stones and more. If you are interested in taking part, please contact me to find out more information.

Children’s Interventions: I run children wellbeing groups, such as Think Yourself Great, Lego Therapy and SAP (Student Assistance Programme). These sessions are aimed at enhancing our children emotional wellbeing and positive self-esteem.

Fridays: We provide an open door every Friday, 2pm – 3pm, where parents can pick up items of food, or preloved items of clothing and uniform.

Food Parcels: We provide food parcels to any families who are in need of a bit of extra support. All requests are dealt with confidentially and sensitively.

Support Services: I can signpost families to local support services, including Asylum Link, Shelter, CAB, Talk Liverpool, WHISC, South Liverpool Domestic Abuse Service, etc. I also offer a listening ear service for anyone who needs to talk.

We have local Councillor Sarah Doyle, joining us every Thursday morning from 9am, offering a drop-in support service for any needing support with Universal Credit, housing advice, fuel cost info, food / clothing support and more!

I also offer support with Secondary School / Reception applications.

Peer Mentors: Our Restorative Practice Peer Mentors receive their training in the parents’ room; where they learn how to solve problems peacefully, using Restorative Practice to encourage positive relationships.

School Council: Our School Council attend their weekly meetings in the Parent’s Room. The children are encouraged to think about what is working well here at Holy Family and what can be improved to make our school even better! Topics include, recycling, climate change, mental health, Fairtrade, etc.

Our School Council are also part of the Lower Schools’ Parliament. Where they have the opportunity to work and with services within the city and debate with other primary schools.

If you would like to know any more information about any of the above, you can find me on the yard at the end of every day or please email me at:
